EXIDE BATTERIES SET TO POWER
ROOKIE CHASE FOR 2016

(Halifax, NS – May 11, 2016) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is excited to announce that Exide Batteries has returned to the popular stock car touring series for a fifth season to present the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year. The program gives bonus money to eligible drivers who are running their first full-time season with the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour and culminates with the presentation of the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year trophy at the year-end awards banquet.

In 2015, DJ Casey of Prospect, Nova Scotia made a successful transition from Sportsman competition to capture the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year Award on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour . The 20 year old was impressive throughout the season, which included a runner-up finish in the IWK 250 presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body at Riverside International Speedway. Casey etched his name into history, joining names like two-time Tour champion Shawn Turple (2005) and Atlantic Cat 250 Champions Lonnie Sommerville (Barnesville, NB - 2007), Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS - 2008) and Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS - 2013) as former top freshmen in the series.

The 2016 season is slated to see at least two rookies go at it for the prestigious title. Noel Road, Nova Scotia’s Harry Ross White and Marshfield, Prince Edward Island’s Nevin Scott have officially signaled intentions to run the full Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour schedule. Harry Ross White, commonly known around racing circles as “HOSS,” has an extensive resume racing which include accolades in Street Stock and Sportsman in Nova Scotia. Scott has made his name in recent seasons in the Street Stock division at Oyster Bed Speedway. Both will look to add their name to the prestigious list of past Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year champions with a strong 2016 season.

The chase for the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year Award begins on Saturday, May 21st, when the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour takes the green flag for the Lucas Oil 100 at Scotia Speedworld. The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will be joined by the Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends Series.
