Cathy Ledwidge
Halifax, NS (July 5, 2007) – It is with
extreme regret that we announce the passing of Cathy
Ledwidge. She died early this morning, after a short
battle with cancer.
Cathy was involved in the Maritime racing scene for
over thirty years and built many friendships during
her racing tenure. She always had a smile on her
face and a cheerful greeting for those she met.
“I know Cathy from our days with Aliant. She was
extremely competent and a subject matter expert,
whose opinion was sought when contemplating changes
to business practices,” said Ken Cunning, General
Manager. “I’d see her at the tracks in the
Maritimes, especially at Scotia Speedworld. After
becoming involved with Scotia Speedworld and the
Maritime Pro Stock Tour, I realize that she brought
the same qualities to these organizations that she
displayed at Aliant. Cathy was a tireless worker,
who truly was interested in what was best for the
sport. We were all better off for knowing and
working with Cathy.”
The owners and staff of Scotia Speedworld and the
Maritime Pro Stock Tour, would like to offer our
condolences to Cathy’s family, especially Ernie and
Mike, who are our colleagues.
The racing community is a small one in our part of
the world and many of you have acknowledged Cathy’s
illness in your own way. The family often commented
on how grateful they were for the support and
touched by your actions.
We will all miss Cathy.
