TUCKER WINS THE CARQUEST 100 AT NBIS IN FREDERICTON
July 28, 2007 Geary,(Near Fredericton), NB - Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, NB
won the CARQUEST 100 for the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour at NBIS on Saturday
night. Wayne Smith of Timberlea, NS
and Tucker battled through several late race restarts with Tucker taking his
first win of the season. Shawn Turple of Enfield, NS was third, ahead of Greg Proude
of North Wiltshire, PE and Chris Hughes of Brackley, PE
rounded out the top five.
Tucker won the halfway leader
award and the Most Laps Led Award. Over
2000 fans saw 12 cautions slow the event, including a 40 minute rain delay, which
took 1 hour and 53 minutes to complete.
Brad Mann of Glen Levit, NB, and Myles Harris of Fredriction
Junction won heat races. Tucker of won
the Dash for the Pole, featuring the top eight finishers in the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials.
Hughes had the fastest time on the 3/10 mile oval, at an average speed
of over 66 miles per hour and opted to take the Rockico
Truck and Trailer Pole Challenge. Hughes
started twenty fifth in the twenty six car field.
Twenty eight of the Maritimes
top drivers attempted to qualify for the Main Feature.
The next
stop on the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour is on August 4th at 6:00 p.m. at
Riverside Speedway, near Antigonish, NS.
