Antigonish Mall 100
At Riverside Speedway Next Event
Halifax, NS (August 7, 2007) – The CARQUEST
Pro Stock Tour is back in action on August 18th
for the Antigonish Mall at Riverside Speedway in
James River, NS.
Enfield, NS’s Shawn Turple continues to hold a slim
lead in the championship point’s standings, 35
points ahead of Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, NB.
Tucker has been lurking in second place trying to
make up valuable ground between him and Turple. Kent
Vincent of Crapaud, PE by virtue of his win at the
Parts For Trucks 100 last weekend at Riverside
Speedway, has moved into third place in the point’s
standings. Wayne Smith of Timberlea, NS is in fourth
spot and Chris Hughes, Winsloe, PE is in fifth. Only
77 points separate first to fifth in points in this
competitive CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour.
Smith took the Marinus Verhagen Enterprises pole
challenge in the last race and charged from 24th
place to 2nd before a flat tire forced
him to pit. He finished 15th on the day.
Expect to see some of these drivers in the top rung
of the points accept the pole challenge on August 18th
to help reduce Turple’s point lead.
Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, NB continues to
lead the EIT Race Radios Rookie of the Year race,
with a comfortable margin over Darrin MacKinnon of
Winslow, PE in second place.
Gary Bursey, Moncton, NB leads the Urquhart
MacDonald Associates B feature points race, for
total points accumulated by those cars that race in
the B feature. Bursey leads Mike Stevens of
Riverview, NB and Roger Crane of Montague, PE who
are second and third respectively.
The Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials have seen six
different drivers set the fastest qualifying time at
the seven races run to date. Turple is the only
driver to accomplish the feat more than once. Other
fast times were set by John Flemming of Halifax, NS,
Sommerville, Vincent, Hughes and Rollie MacDonald of
Pictou, NS.
