CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour Roars
Into NBIS
Fredericton, NB (August 3, 2006) – The
CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour will make the
second of two stops at New Brunswick
International Speedway in Geary, NB on
Saturday, August 5th.
John Flemming (Halifax, NS) carries a
slim 18-point lead in the CARQUEST
Championship Points Race over Brad Mann
(Glen Livet, NB) entering the sixth stop
on the 11 event tour. Gordie Ryan
(Wellington, NS) is another 20 points
back. Mann won the July 22 event held at
Raceway Park in Oyster Bed Bridge, PE
and is expected to be strong at NBIS,
the track where he honed his driving
skills. Wayne Smith (Timberlea, NS) and
Kent Vincent (Crapaud, PE) round out the
top five in points.
The EIT Race Radio Rookie of the Year
race is also a tight affair with Russell
Smith (Lakeside, NS) leading Bobby
Nielsen (Vernon River, PE) by 38 points.
Smith and Nielsen have combined to
capture each Rookie of the Race award in
the six events completed to date.
Chasing these two are Sandy Livingston
(Springhill, NS), Mike Stevens
(Riverview, NB) and Roger Crane
(Montague, PE).
Some veteran drivers such as Mike
MacKenzie (Dartmouth, NS), Rollie
MacDonald (Pictou, NS) and hometown
favourite Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB)
are looking to shake the bad luck that
has plagued them during the 2006 season.
All have the cars and are capable of
winning races.
Meanwhile sophomore driver Kris Fournier
(Charlottetown, PE) continues his quiet
rise in points with consistent runs week
in and week out. Fournier found some
problems with his car over the winter
and seems to have corrected them.
Racing action begins at 7 PM Saturday
night, while Time Trials are set for
6:10 PM.
New Brunswick International Speedway is
located on
Route 660
