TUCKER
WINS THE CARQUEST 100 AT NEW BRUNSWICK
INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY
August 5, 2006 (Geary, NB )
Shaun Tucker of Fredericton, NB won the
CARQUEST 100 for the CARQUEST Pro Stock
Tour at the New Brunswick International
Speedway (NBIS) near Fredericton, NB on
Saturday night. Defending NBIS weekly
Pro Stock Champion, Glen Rasmussen of
New Denmark, NB finished second, ahead
of John Flemming of Halifax, NS. Gordie
Ryan of Wellington, NS and Brad Mann of
Campbellton, NB rounded out the top
five. Tucker becomes the sixth different
winner in seven races this season.
Tucker won the Fast Track RV Sales
Halfway award and the Atlantic Tiltload
Most Laps Led Award. Seven cautions and
one red flag slowed the event, which
took one hour and sixteen minutes to
complete. None of the five drivers who
had the option to take the ROCKICO Truck
and Trailer Pole Dash for an opportunity
to earn extra points and money accepted.
Kris Fournier of Charlottetown, PE and
Matt Harris of Fredericton Junction, NB
won the Motormart heat races. Tucker won
the Motor Mart Dash for the Pole,
featuring the top ten finishers in Time
Trials. Twenty-seven of the Maritime’s
top drivers attempted to qualify for the
CARQUEST 100 on the ¼ mile oval billed
as “Canada’s Fastest Short Track”. Ryan
had the fastest time at an average speed
of 65.564 miles per hour.
The next stop on the CARQUEST Pro Stock
Tour is on August 19th at the newly
renovated Riverside Speedway, near
Antigonish, NS. The Antigonish Mall 200
will see the cars and stars of the
CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour compete in the
inaugural event of a new era of racing
at the famed high banked 3/8 mile track.
